Premier's Fund for Children and Young People....You Said It, We Did It

11 March 2022

The Premier’s Fund for Children and Young People aims to increase recreational and social options for young Tasmanians.

The grant program responds to the voices of children and young people who wrote directly to the Premier during the consultation to develop Tasmania’s Child and Youth Wellbeing Strategy – It Takes a Tasmanian Village.

Grants of up to $50,000 are available for projects that increase children and young people's participation in recreational or social activities.

Eligible applicants include incorporated associations, not for profit community organisations, Local Government Councils, School Associations and Parents and Friends Associations.

Applicants must be able to show that their proposal responds to a need that has been identified by the local community, in particular a need identified by children and young people.

Applications were open from 27 November 2021 and closed on 11 February 2022.

A panel is currently being convened to assess the grant proposals, with successful recipients to be announced in April 2022.

Due to enormous interest in the Fund since it opened for applications in November last year, the Tasmanian Government has doubled the funding for this grant round to $1 million. This will allow even more current applications to be funded, to the benefit of children and young people across the State.

If you miss out this year, future opportunities will be available, with two more grant rounds of $500,000 each in 2023 and 2024 – for a total of $2 million for recreational and social infrastructure and programs across Tasmania specifically for children and young people.
