Your input matters

1 April 2021

A massive thank you to those of you who’ve contributed to this consultation so far. We’ve received:

  • over 650 postcards;
  • more than 165 creative contributions;
  • over 170 survey responses; and
  • more than 55 submissions to our discussion paper.

Our consultation partners have also undertaken over 50 face to face forums with children and young people state-wide.

More than 3,100 Tasmanians have contributed to the consultation.

As you know we are now in caretaker. The work being done to develop Tasmania’s Child and Youth Wellbeing Strategy is significant policy development, so our team continues to progress this work for the benefit of children and young people.

There’s still time…

If you have any materials yet to be returned to us, such as postcards, or ‘Get Creative’ responses there’s still time for us to receive your contributions up until 30th April 2021. You can post the postcards to us via reply paid mail, or email us any contributions to hello@wellbeing.tas.gov.au.

In the meantime we’ve been busy reading all of the feedback we’ve received so far, which will be collated and presented in a publicly available consultation report. Some early themes from the postcards include:

  • providing more recreation activities for youth;
  • increasing housing availability and reducing homelessness;
  • increasing access to quality education that suits different learning styles;
  • a desire for more community activities including valuing play areas and recreation; and
  • increasing our focus on the environment.

The final Child and Youth Wellbeing Strategy is due to be released later this year.
