'Your Voice, Your Views, Your Say' Consultation Report Launched

30 June 2021

Today, Premier Peter Gutwein released the Child and Youth Wellbeing Strategy Consultation Report, Your Voice, Your Views, Your Say, in the Tasmanian Parliament. The consultation received over 3,500 contributions from children, young people, parents and carers, advocates and service providers across Tasmania.

Dozens of letters, hundreds of hand drawn pictures, and thousands of insightful comments from people about child and youth wellbeing are available to view on this website and have been analysed to produce the Consultation Report, which will inform the development of Tasmania’s first Child and Youth Wellbeing Strategy for 0-25 year olds. A child friendly A3 poster-style summary of the Consultation Report has also been released.

More than 800 children wrote a postcard to the Premier as part of the consultation. When releasing the report, the Premier shared some of the postcards that children had written to him and said he was moved by how deeply children and young people care about our State, our environment and our people.

The Premier thanked all of the children and young people, organisations, individuals and community groups that have taken considerable time and effort to share their views on very important issues that we need to consider in developing the Child and Youth Wellbeing Strategy.

The Premier also thanked our consultation partners, the Commissioner for Children and Young people, the Youth Network of Tasmania, the Mental Health Council of Tasmania and Playgroup Tasmania for the face to face conversations they led for us across the State.

"We are listening to the voices of our children and young people. I encourage people to look at the results of this consultation on the wellbeing website and in the Consultation Report", he said.

The Child and Youth Wellbeing Strategy will be released later this year to coincide with the 2021-22 Budget.
